Summary :

Since the development of the first Laser in the 1960’s, much work has been carried out so that it is possible to propose a theory on the action of the highly energetic photons delivered to living tissues. The action of molecules, with a sclerosing effect on the walls of varicose veins, which aim at causing a disappearance of the varicose veins, has been studied mainly on a clinical basis according to a methodology of failure/success. The similarity of certain actions of Laser and of sclerosing foam, justify the proposal of an equivalence of Irradiance and Fluence – the hallmark of any Laser – with sclerosing Efficiency and sclerosing Power respectively. However theoretical this approach may be, it establishes the first step towards the construction of a mathematical model allowing the comparison of different foams obtained from different molecules by different techniques and with different durations of contact. The result of calculations showed that the duration of contact between the foam and the varicose wall had more effect than the concentration of the solution or than modification of the treated surface.
